Description

A most unusual Victorian inkstand, I have never seen one of this kind ever before, quite charming in the form of a bridge with the two towers carved to appear stone built.

Each tower is topped with a lidded postage stamp box with a sloped interior. The towers are joined with a cast brass "suspension" which could hold small letter, post cards or similar. The fence in front of the towers too can act as a letter rack or holder. The towers are fitted with cast brass pegs all of which act as pen rests to rest one's selection of dip pens.

The glass inkwells are in perfect shape in the ever-popular swirled design with hinged lids fitted in brass.

Victorian in era dating to c.1890, this rare desk-top accessory remains in superb condition having been professionally re-polished by my restorer to showcase it's beauty. The base has a footprint measuring 7 1/4" square; 5 1/2" tall to top of towers.
