A fine and very rare Pair of 19th Century Solid Mahogany Wine Kettle Tables with Scalloped Tops surviving from c1840.
Constructed using superb quality Cuban Mahogany and Having solid Mahogany tops which have acquired a lovely soft colour and warmth to the timber. With carved scalloped edge on a turned one piece column with acanthus leaf carving and terminating in elegant tri form supports with carved eagle claw feet.
These tables although called wine or kettle tables were most commonly used for candles around the home in the 18th and 19th Century , imagine how many candles would have been required to light a home back then!
Offered in very good Original Antique condition and structurally sound , two very good honest small old repairs to one table to the foot and edge of one ...scallop which cannot be seen unless deeply inspected.
With a lovely deep colour and patination and oozing all the charm and character of the period. Our furniture is cleaned and polished using traditional waxing methods.
