Late Victorian Gilt Swept Frame No 44.

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a good late Victorian gilt and gesso frame with its original gilding and attractive deep gilt inner slip dating from around 1900. The frame is a a useful size measuring 65 cms by 45 cms overall. The aperture is 46.5 cms by 25.5 cms. The opening at the back to receive the painting is 48.5 by 28 cms.

It would be possible to use this without the large slip which would enable an apperture of 57.5 cms by 37 cms with the opening at the back becoming 50.5 c by 38.5 cms.
