As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large finely rendered Meiji Period (1868-1912) silk textile study of a sea eagle, the majestic bird of prey captured in a striking pose upon a rocky outcrop amidst a choppy sea, the birds head turned and clearly focusing on its potential prey. The talented artist has worked the silk in various colours and stitching styles to portray the eagles feathers and facial features in fine detail, the use of couched gold thread highlighting the birds menacing eye. A softer coloured silk is used to create the bakdrop of waves which cleverly contrast the bustling water crashing against the rocks.
