Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The box is kept securely shut with two brass catches. Once opened, the paper lined interior is revealed in the form of a Backgammon board. The box comes complete with a very clean Staunton style Boxwood chess set in excellent condition with a good shiny patina. All that you need now is a set of backgammon counters.
The box is Edwardian in era, around 1900 / 1910, Edwardian in era, the chess set may perhaps be a little later, the perfect size for the board with the King standing 2 5/8" tall.
