A Victorian Novelty Silver & Mother-of-pearl Needle Case

Description

An exquisite and rare example of Victorian sewing ware, with a vacant silver cartouche to the lid. The superb novelty needle case is formed to represent a knife box, with a hinged lid and original plush lined interior. There is a push button release to the front and the body is decorated in panels of mother-of-pearl, with a base of tortoiseshell. Inside there are bone dividers and two packs of vintage needles. A lovely companion piece to thimble cases made in the same style, this is a lovely and unusual collector's piece still usable today. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent with no breaks, holes or splits. There is slight ware around the joins of the mother of pearl, commensurate with age and use.
