Antique Treen Kitchenalia Single 19thc Welsh Fruitwood Cawl Ladle. C1840-60.

Description

A very good example of a Welsh cawl ladle, this would have been used for serving the traditional broth known as cawl....what is very unusual about this fine cawl ladle is that it is made from fruitwood, usually they are made out of sycamore or beech....it has the useful "hook" handle for hanging on the side of the bowl or the dresser shelf, when not in use....small nick to the top edge, which has been filled along time ago.....excellent colour that you get with aged fruitwood.
