Antique Treen Kitchenalia Single 19thc Fruitwood Wheatsheaf Butter Mould. English C1840-60.

Description

A really fine and unusual example of a mid 19thc fruitwood butter press / mould.....the two things I really like about this mould are....it is made from fruitwood, usually they would be carved from beech or sycamore and secondly, given my farming heritage, I really like wheatsheaves.....not that I can remember working with them.!...but I can remember seeing my great aunt , baking fresh bread , and then cutting a slice , which she would spread with freshly made butter, which was always decorated with beautiful "country" patterns....plus homemade jam......it always tasted as good as it looked and smelled...! It has gained a very good natural colour from being used in the country kitchen and is in excellent condition.
