Charming Small Georgian Needlework Sampler

A beautiful small late Georgian sampler. The piece is wonderfully stitched in silk on linen, in petit pointe stitch. The colours and overall condition of the sampler is stunning, it is bright, clear and perfect. The layout is in many ways typical with an alphabet to the upper section and a verse in the lower. There are some unusual interesting motifs in the central family crest with dogs supporting it, and pots of flowers to the lower section. The sampler is fully signed and dated within cartouches to the left and right of the family crest; Martha Sthron, April 25th 1826. The frame is later and probably made for the sampler at the turn of the twentieth century, in oak with a gilded edge and mount. The whole is a wonderful and charming example of a later Georgian sampler in superb original condition.
