FAQs

An Edwardian inlaid occasional table is a small, movable piece of furniture produced during the Edwardian era, typically featuring decorative wood marquetry or stringing on a timber frame.

These tables are commonly constructed from solid mahogany or satinwood, featuring veneered tabletops, hand-cut dovetails or mortise-and-tenon joints, and delicate floral or geometric wood inlays.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, natural age-related patina on the timber, hand-applied shellac finishes, and genuine wood veneer construction rather than modern synthetic prints.

Such a piece works well as an accent in a contemporary setting by pairing it with minimalist seating to highlight its historic craftsmanship and warm wood tones.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry lint-free cloth, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent veneer fading, and applying quality beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
