Description

A beautifully made horse grooming tool, made with a curved lightly serrated copper blade, iron frame and well turned beech handle....it was used to remove sweat after a canter or workout and also to remove the water after a wash or bath....stamped G. Deakin - Sheffield - England on the blade and also cast with Deakin's makers mark of a horses head on the centre of the iron frame, which was registered in 1842....George Deakin is listed at various addresses in Sheffield between 1825 and 1865....a quality made piece, which is in surprisingly very good condition.
