Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Staddle stones were historically used as elevated support pillars for timber granaries, hayricks, and farm structures. Raising the building off the damp ground prevented moisture damage and stopped rodents from climbing up into stored grain.

Staddle stones were typically hand-carved from locally quarried natural stone, most commonly sandstone, limestone, or granite. They comprise two distinct components: a tapered upright pedestal base and a wide, mushroom-shaped capstone.

Authentic period staddle stones display hand-chiselled tool marks, subtle irregularities in shape, and natural weathering such as moss or lichen growth. Modern concrete reproductions usually show mould seams, uniform surfaces, and artificial distressing.

They are commonly positioned as architectural focal points along gravel pathways, positioned within herbaceous borders, or arranged near cottage entrances to add historic structure and rustic texture to modern landscapes.

Natural sandstone requires very little maintenance. High-pressure washing and chemical cleansers should be avoided, as these methods can erode the surface detail and strip away established moss or organic patina.
