Victorian Betjemann's Patent Self-closing Book Slide

19th century
Description

A fantastic Victorian brass book slide of the highest quality. It is marked on both ends with the the maker"Betjemann's Patent 6967. Self Closing Book Slide 6967". It has ornate gothic style mounts embellished with blue stones.

It is in good condition for its age and each end slides smoothly. There are of course signs of age and use, some knocks and surface marks but nothing detrimental and no major damages. The blue stones have taken some damage with the mounts dented and some of the small stones missing (see photos) but overall it still displays well.

Approximate Measurements:

Height : 6 1/2" / 17cm

Length : 13 1/2" / 34cm up to 21 1/4" / 54cm

Depth : 5 1/2" / 14cm
