Prometheus Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The very bold and contrasting two tone nature of the sky and trees works brilliantly to draw the eye to the very detailed depiction of the buzzard. The landscape does remind one of Scotland or the north of England. The marquetry panel is beautifully framed by walnut and a simple mahogany edge as a sign of the quality it is even very nicely veneered on the reverse in walnut. This type of marquetry panel is often associated with the Rowley Gallery which commissioned artist at the beginning of the twentieth century to create designs for wooden panels. This piece is not marked but it is certainly of the quality of these Rowley panels if not better. C.1920.
