A George IV bijouterie table is a specialised display piece created during the 1820s and 1830s, designed specifically for showcasing small precious objects, curiosities, and jewellery beneath a glass top.

These tables were typically constructed from fine timbers such as rosewood, mahogany, or satinwood, often featuring glazed compartments, silk or velvet linings, and intricate brass or carved wooden details.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber shrinkage, traditional joinery methods, hand-cut screws, the quality of the glass, and the patination on the wood surfaces consistent with nineteenth-century manufacturing.

Positioning a period display table within a modern room creates a focal point for exhibiting curated collections of small artefacts, contrasted against clean architectural lines and neutral walls.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels away from direct sunlight, cleaning glass with non-abrasive solutions, and occasionally applying appropriate microcrystalline wax to nourish the timber.
