A fine Regency period needlework of Neptune. The piece is beautifully stitched in wool in monochromatic colours. It is likely the needlework copies a print of the time hence the colour palette. A lot of Neptune related images were created around the time of the death of Lord Nelson in 1805 and this would most likely date the piece. The needlework is mounted behind a velvet slip in a silvered frame and I would think these are slightly later and from the Victorian period. The whole is in good untouched condition and an interesting decorative item.
