Unusual Victorian Needlework of Butterflies

A very unusual Victorian needlework of butterflies. The piece certainly will have been copied from a plate of butterflies from a book and is most unusual. The work is in wool with very fine stitching used for the detail and a broad stich in the background. The colours are beautifully fresh and bright and the whole is in very good condition. It is signed to the lower right with the initials CT. The work is mounted in a period silvered frame. The whole is a most unusual needlework with great decorative appeal. C.1870
