Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Arts and Crafts leather animal model is a handcrafted decorative figure formed from hide, popularised in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These pieces reflect the movements emphasis on organic materials, handcrafted techniques, and naturalistic animal forms.

These sculptures were typically crafted by stretching and moulding wet leather over a shaped armature made of wood, straw, or plaster. Detail was added through hand-tooling and embossing, with features such as glass eyes or carved tusks inserted before drying.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural surface wear, hand-stitched seams, and genuine leather patination acquired over time. Original models often feature embedded glass eyes, sculpted skin folds, and solid structural integrity rather than lightweight modern synthetic composition.

A leather animal figure functions well as a focal accent on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or executive office desk. Its deep tonal finish adds warmth and textural contrast alongside wooden joinery, brass objects, or muted wall shades.

Keep leather figures away from direct sunlight, radiators, and high humidity to prevent drying or cracking. Periodically clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth and nourish the hide with a specialized neutral leather balm or museum wax.
