The press element of this lovely antique is a high quality piece and is stylishly detailed with solid bronze components. The solid cast iron frame is free of damage or repairs and operates perfectly. Solid bronze bearing supports, slide rail guides, fly handle end caps and screw-bar finial are all a clear indicator of the quality of the item. This robust press weighs in at an impressive 142lb (10 stone 2lb or 65kg) yet operates efforlessly, and was designed to last for decades of daily use.
The heavy weight press is mounted atop an original bespoke three drawer cabinet. This piece is sturdily constructed and offers great stability in use. To each side there is a flap which raises to give additional working space. The solid mahogany drawers are complete with original pull handles. The upper drawer opens to reveal a fitted lead lined inner - this removable drawer liner benefits from a leather covered under surface. The mahogany grain and colour is displayed well throughout the piece.
This is a most unusual and rare press that is in nice order throughout.
