Antique Treen 19thc Boxwood Turned Nutcracker . French C1840-60

Description

A good example of a mid 19thc boxwood nutcracker of the "screw" type....it comes from France and is of the type made by a gentleman called "Souan" who did quite a few variations of this type, sometimes found with his name on them....also they can come with marine ivory rings and knops....this one has a finely beaded collar, shown close up in one of the pictures......it is in very good condition with a pleasing colour.
