A Victorian Novelty 'Knife Box' Thimble/needle Case

An exquisite and rare example of Victorian sewing ware, with a vacant silver cartouche to the lid. The superb novelty thimble holder and needle case is formed to represent a knife box, with a hinged lid and original plush lined interior. There is a push button release to the front and the body is decorated in alternate panels of mother-of-pearl, with a base of tortoiseshell. Supplied with a silver thimble and twin packs of vintage needles, this is a lovely and unusual collector's piece, still usable today. Dimensions below.
