FAQs

Staffordshire spaniels are ceramic figures produced in the Staffordshire pottery district of England, popular during the Victorian era as mantelpiece ornaments.

They were typically fashioned from earthenware pottery, hand-painted with underglaze colours, and often finished with a clear lead glaze and gilded accents.

Authentic pieces often feature crazing in the glaze, hollow interiors with small ventilation holes, hand-painted facial features, and lack modern maker marks, though early versions sometimes have painted numerals.

They are traditionally placed paired symmetrically on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or sideboard to add a touch of historical character and classic British charm to a room.

Keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent paint fading, dust gently with a soft dry cloth, and avoid using liquid cleaners on crazed or gilded surfaces.
