A fine and beautiful Georgian sampler by Ann Palmer dated 1797. The sampler is stitched in silks on linen. The design is very simple and elegant with floral sprigs to the edges and a floral border surrounding the letters and numbers. There is unusually a beautiful little verse from Alexander Pope rather than a biblical text. The whole is in exceedingly good condition with just the odd minor hole and no losses. The frame is the original but was probably gilded and was overpainted black in the Victorian period.
