Eighteenth-century English porcelain saw the establishment of major factories like Derby, Bow, and Chelsea, which developed distinct soft-paste and hard-paste ceramic body compositions influenced by Chinese export porcelain and Meissen styles.

Georgian porcelain was traditionally crafted using mixtures of china clay, china stone, and glass frits for soft-paste bodies, shaped by hand or in moulds, and hand-painted with underglaze cobalt or overglaze enamel colours before kiln firing.

Authentic pieces are identified by characteristic paste textures, underglaze blue or crown-and-crossed-baton factory marks, hand-painted floral motifs, and minor kiln imperfections typical of early manufacturing processes.

Antique porcelain pieces can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, utilized on open shelving as sculptural objects, or integrated into tablescapes to add historical contrast and refined texture to contemporary spaces.

Antique porcelain should be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water using mild, non-ionic detergent, avoiding abrasive sponges, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden thermal shock from extreme temperature changes.
