19th Century English Giltwood Composition Frame

Description

This is a good quality late 19th century English Giltwood composition frame in excellent original condition with its original water gilded finish. The frame has a separate inner gilt slip with cavetto sight, reverse leaf, plain hollow with leaf corners, and D-section top edge.

The frame itself is 53 cms by 43 cms.

The sight size (apperture) measures 35 cms by 24.5 cms wide.

The opening at the back to accept the picture measures 39 cms by 29 cms.

It would be possible to remove the inner gilt slip which would then make the sight apperture 37 .5 cms by 27 cms.
