In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1910s.
It has a makers plaque "The Orilux. J.H.Steward Ltd. 406 Strand. London". The body is covered in leather and the metal parts are finished in a chrome or nickel plating. The bottom of the torch opens which presumably gives access to the battery compartment or power source. It comes in a protective thick canvas case with the name 'Walton' on.

It is in good condition for its age. I have not tested it in any way and it is being sold as a decorative collectable item only. There are signs of age and use, some minor marks and knocks around the casing and some tarnishing on the metal parts but no obvious major damages. It has been lightly cleaned and displays very nicely.
The best description comes from the photographs so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
