Antique French Triple Optic Binoculars - Marine / Theatre / Field Dated1890

Description

These hard-to-find French-made glasses with three lenses are changed by the wheel at the side and indicated across the bridge labelled " Theatre ", " Campagne " and " Marine ". They are unsigned but simply marked "Paris".

There are also brass sun shades which pull out to reduce glare in bright light and sunshine. They are beautifully clad in leather and have been painstakingly professionally polished to create a great looking instrument, all in excellent working condition.

This is a very special presentation pair with sporting interest for both Cricket and Tennis devotees. They are engraved "Penang Cricket Club / Lawn Tennis Tournament / February 1890" and "Double Handicap Won by R G Watson & F D Halifax".

Measuring 5" wide x 2 1/2" deep x 5 3/4" while closed up. Excellent condition.
