A Telescope on Stand by Messer of London

19th century
Description

A single drawer brass and mahogany night and day telescope signed Messer london. Probably dating from 1850 or earlier (no intials prior to Messer may indicate the father of the family who were prolific instrument makers). The mahogany cylinder has no cracks and the brass tube pulls out evenly and firmly.The lenses appear intact and with no visible cracks. The lens slides work correctly and the day and night cap is present.

The stand is associated and un marked , it is delicate but functions well. The legs fold down correctly with no faults.

90 cms fully extended. 52 cms closed
