Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This trinket box originates from the 1920s in the neoclassical style, formed as a lidded boat. The ceramic stoneware body uses the traditional jasperware technique with a deep dark blue glaze and matte white relief decoration. The lid displays moulded classical bas-relief figures in the centre beneath a detailed laurel leaf border that traces the scalloped oval edge. The vessel rests flat on a smooth base, showing clean relief details and sharp moulded edges around the scalloped perimeter. Measuring 11 cm in width, 8 cm in depth and 5 cm in height, the lidded box fits neatly onto a bedside table or dressing surface. In a modern interior, this trinket box provides a practical and decorative storage holder for small everyday items such as rings, earrings, cufflinks or loose change. The classic colour palette integrates easily into traditional English country house schemes or classic bedroom styling. The removable lid allows for easy access to the interior compartment while keeping the contents concealed and protected from dust when not in use.

FAQs

Jasperware is an unglazed vitreous stoneware first developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the late eighteenth century, characterised by its matte finish and applied white ceramic bas-relief ornamentation.

Jasperware is crafted from dense stoneware coloured throughout or dip-coated with metal oxides, such as cobalt for blue shades, then finished with separate white clay relief motifs.

Authentic pieces feature impressed maker marks on the base, crisp relief detail without excess slip bleeding, and a smooth, unglazed matte surface texture.

Place the box on a bedside table, dressing table, or vanity tray to introduce historical texture, deep colour contrast, and classical motifs into contemporary spaces.

Clean the surface gently using warm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from the intricate reliefs, avoiding harsh chemical cleansers or abrasive pads.
