Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of 19th-century Regency coffee cans originates from the first period of Minton. Shaped with a cylindrical body and small handles, the white porcelain pieces are decorated with hand-painted polychrome English landscape vignettes enclosed in ornate gilded oval cartouches. Fine gold leaf outlines the rims and borders, complementing the hand-painted enamel colours of the rural scenes. One can is in good condition, while the other bears an 8 cm hairline to the back under the handle. The dimensions are 6 cm high by 9 cm wide including the handle. Today, these coffee cans serve as decorative items for display on a sideboard top in a dining room or living space. They bring traditional Regency style to a tabletop arrangement, where their hand-painted details and gilded finishes can be appreciated up close. Collectors of early English porcelain will find them suitable for integration into a cabinet or open shelving display alongside other period ceramics.

FAQs

A coffee can is a small, straight-sided cylindrical porcelain cup featuring a single vertical handle, manufactured widely in Britain and Europe during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Regency era coffee cans were constructed from soft-paste or hard-paste porcelain, embellished using hand-applied overglaze enamel paints and detailed with gilded leaf or mercury gilding.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature straight cylindrical forms, hand-painted artwork exhibiting slight natural variations, pattern numbers rendered in paint on the base, and soft surface wear to the gold gilding.

These decorative ceramics are best styled within a glazed display cabinet, lined along a shallow wall shelf, or arranged on a tray upon a console table or sideboard.

Clean gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild non-abrasive soap, wiping softly with a microfibre cloth to prevent wear to the delicate overglaze paint and gold leaf.
