Can you change the interior fabric?

Replacing the interior lining is a routine job for an upholsterer. You strip out the old material and glue fresh velvet over the baseboard. Keep the original fabric if it survives in decent order. Collectors often prefer a faded original lining over bright modern material.

Why does the lid wobble?

Loose hinges cause most wobbles on the lid. The small brass screws pull out of the slender wooden frame after decades of use. Fixing this usually involves plugging the old screw holes with wood before refitting the hardware.

I want to put some heavy bronze paperweights in one of these tables but the legs look thin. Are they actually strong enough to hold heavy metal pieces?

The key is missing for the lock on the front and I am wondering if a locksmith can make a new one or if the whole lock needs replacing?

A traditional antique restorer can cut a new key to fit the existing lock. The mechanisms are basic lever locks that rarely need total replacement. You avoid damaging the surrounding veneer when you keep the original lock in place.
