This is an unusual antique Flemish Gothic carved oak centre table, constructed in the Victorian period, circa 1870, with Green Man influence, displaying stunning carved detail, in excellent original condition. Originating from the Low Countries, possibly Belgium, the carved oak centre table comprises a twin-plank top with carved moulded frieze, with canted corners, above a scroll carved convex frieze, which features a single working drawer, retaining its original oak drawer linings. At each corner can be found a well-carved lion heads, holding copper rings in their mouth. Shaped corbels unite the frieze with the canted corners on both sides of the table.
The centre table terminated on “dolphin” shaped legs. The carved detail is featured on all sides of the table, making this an ideal centre table, which should be allowed to be seen from all angles. The carved oak centre table is solid in joint and ready to use.
