Description

This fine quality French Krieger console table has the original ormolu mounts, a mirrored back and a removable deep green marble top with white veining. The drawer has a beautiful central loop pull handle in the shape of a swan and there are wheatsheaf ornaments at the corners, the front supports being decorated as Corinthian columns with ormolu top and bottom. Standing on turned bun style feet, the piece has mahogany quartered flame veneer shelves. The top edge of the drawer is labelled “Krieger Ameublement Paris”. Maison Krieger was established in 1826 and was one of the largest and most important furniture manufacturers in Paris in the late 19th century, remaining as a family business until around 1910.

With the mirrored back, this will make a great display piece for any room, the marble surface being good for flowers and the reflective shelving for other objects, or perhaps a business might use this in a reception area for a visitor book, with storage space beneath for paperwork.

Dating to circa 1900, this is made of mahogany and marble, and originates from France.

In nice age related condition, the marble has minor nibbles along the edges which are almost invisible to the eye, but no significant chips. This quality piece is designed to be supported by standing against a wall and has a very slight wobble if left freestanding. The original ormolu mounts are present.
