Although likely to have been made some years after his death in 1818, this table does exhibit several Bullock-like characteristics. It is interesting to compare it to the holly and oak table supplied by Bullock to M. R Boulton a year before his untimely death, see Christie''s Important Furniture Sale, lot 163, 27th November 2003. There are several stylistic similarities, and the tables are exactly the same size!
Could this example have been made by a cabinet maker formerly employed by Bullock? Or perhaps the similarities are entirely coincidental and the tableis from the workshop of James Meil or even Gillows. both of whom used a related repertoire.
Whatever its origins, this is a elegant table of neat size and well-considered design.
Condition: Well presented and structurally sound. A solid mahogany top, good consistent colour The odd isolated mark commensurate with age and general wear.
