A rare pair of 18th century English mahogany Pembroke tables.
 
Having figured tops with two hinged flaps, that are supported when raised by curved brackets, above one frieze drawer with small brass pull handles. Raised on elegant square tapered legs.
 
Pembroke tables are thought to have originally been the idea of the 9th Earl of Pembroke, Henry Herbert (1693–1751), a noted connoisseur and amateur architect, and are a practical piece of furniture.
