Description

A 19thC or earlier French elm topped coffee table. Faded elm plank top with oak cleated ends. Very large long elm fronted drawer with iron pull. A smaller long two division side drawer (cherry fronted) with original brass ring pull. As with much old rustic French furniture construction was compiled from what timber came to hand. This piece comprises elm,cherry, beech and oak put together with peg and tenon joints and large dovetails to the drawers. It show evidence of old worm (as does almost all antique French furniture) which has been treated thoroughly from top to bottom. A very nice mellow faded colour and an interesting useful piece.
