A Fine and Unusual 'Butterfly' Pembroke Table C.1780

18th century
Description

The solid mahogany top with moulded serpentine edge, above a bow-fronted frieze drawer raised on turned tapering legs, which is rare for the period.

The brass castors run on ball bearings and are 19th century replacements, some minor wear and rear commensurate with age and slight shrinkage across the top meaning one leaf does not sit absolutely vertical, (although the flaps are absolutely 'true')

Overall a lovely quality table, of considered and restrained form, relying on excellent quality timbers and clean lines.
