Description
Grand Early Victorian Mahogany Wind-out Dining Table And 8 Matching Chairs. The chairs and the table are available separately. A fantastic fully restored large Mahogany table and perfectly matching chairs. Table description Here we have the most marvellous example of a restored early Victorian solid Mahogany wind out table of substantial size believed to be made between 1850 - 1860. This table has been recently fully restored and French polished. The winding mechanism has been greased and is working smoothly without any sagging whilst maintaining a flat top when extended (its original winding handle is included). The table is solid with no joint movement or twisting. The table has 4 beautifully turned and carved substantial mahogany legs which stands on its original impressively large polished brass castors on white porcelain wheels. This lovely table is in almost flawless condition with a lovely highly glazed French polished finish and rich Mahogany colour. This table is complete with its 2 original additional leaves giving this table a small overall form when the leaves are not in use or a very large table when both are in and the medium between. This table can manage to accommodate 4-10 chairs and be used as a formal dining room or even a breakfast table. We will also include a heat resistant table top cover as photographed, however it is in used condition so is not absolutely perfect. Chair Description Original Victorian set of 8 Mahogany dining chairs in superb restored condition made around C1870. This set of chairs features a spectacular moulded crown back with floral carvings either side and a carved centre middle rail. The chairs have drop in upholstered seat pads which are raised on its moulded side rails with a moulded serpentine front which stands on its turned forelegs. These chairs have been fully restored and feature a highly glazed French polished finish with a rich colour and have been carefully waxed. These chairs have been looked after and cared for as it is very rare to find a set of 8 Victorian chairs in such good condition. Over time many of these sets get split into smaller sets. These chairs are of the highest quality and are made from all solid heavy Mahogany with a strong design, construction and are completely original with no loose joints or wobbles. The seat pads have been recently reupholstered but the material is used so is not absolutely perfect but they have no notable marks or wear. These chairs are in a light yellow gold flat weave damask material with detail as shown in the photographs, the inner traditional padding is in good order and they are very comfortable seating. Please note: We can reupholster these chairs in a material of your choice if this material is not to your taste (for obvious added costs) if you enquire. These items are in outstanding restored condition as shown by the photographs however being antique items of this age there are blemishes and scuffs here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage. The chairs and the table are available separately. Please see our other listings for the separate items or contact us for more info.
