Made entirely of richly patinated elm with a superb honey colour, this six seater table has a cleated, three plank top, originally loose but nailed down at a later date. The corners have been rounded off but the degree of patina suggests this was done a very long time ago.
There is a series of dowelled biscuit tenons down the length of the top, a feature often found on Welsh tables.
The base has four square legs, slightly chamfered and joined by the original H-shaped stretcher. The deep drawer front has been retained but the drawer linings, runners and the deeper sections of the frieze sides at the drawer end have all been removed to make the table more practical to sit at. Carmarthenshire, circa 1780.
