Large 18th Century Japanese Arita Imari Charger

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this outstanding condition Edo Period 1612-1868 , circa 1720 , large Imari palette charger manufactured at the Arita kilns in the early 18th century, this style of charger bearing the decorative motif to the rear dates it between 1700-1720, just following on from the Genroku period, the vibrant Imari decoration consists of a central Ikebana display housed in a container with opposing dragon handles, around which sit interspersed panels of flora and pavilions in landscapes, the highly gilded decoration in quite remarkable condition for a plate of this period, the underside further decorated with floral swags betwixt trees around the foot rim and a central floral motif, a fine example of Japanese export wares destined for the wealthy European households of the period.
