A 1.2m Wide French Oval Coffee Table

19th century
Description

A mid 19thC French oval coffee table of an ideal size. Probably used in the past as an eating table in the vineyards. The top lifts of and the X frame base folds or dismantles for ease of carrying. It is easy to reassemble and sits robustly when in place. The top is of sycamore banded around the edge in oak. The top shows evidence of cut marks from meals and as such has taken on a mellow patina. The base is of two oak frames secured is original steel pins. The whole piece works well as a good sized coffee table.
