Description:
This is a superb quality antique English George III solid Cuban mahogany Pembroke drop leaf dining table, circa 1770, displaying fine mahogany top, which seats up to 6 – 8 people, and is in excellent condition.
The table is raised on sturdy block legs. The table incorporates two solid mahogany “drop leaves”, which can be opened to extend the size of table, supported by the gate legs below. The gate leg mechanism is in excellent working order. The table can be configured in a multitude of ways, depending on how many chairs are to be used with the table. With the leaves extended, the table can seat up to 6 - 8 people. With only one leaf, the table can seat between 2 - 4 people. This ability to be configured in so many different ways allows the table to be utilised in the best way possible according to room size and intended use. When the table is not in use, the leaves can be lowered and the table stored, to act as a sofa or console table against a wall.

Dimensions:
Table Height = 71.2cm or 28” or 2ft 4”
Depth = 118.6cm or 46¾” or 3ft 10¾”

Width (leaves down) = 52.5cm or 20?” or 1ft 8?”
Knee height (top) = 69.5cm or 27?” or 2ft 3?”

Knee Height (frieze) = 56.6cm or 22?” or 1ft 10?”
Condition Report:
Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. The table has been cleaned and French polished by hand in our workshop, therefore the colour and form of the table is in excellent condition and the tops are free from any stains, scratches or marks. The table therefore boasts a rich mahogany colour and patination. The gate leg mechanism is in excellent working order and so are the hinged table leaf joints. The table has been made from top quality solid Cuban mahogany timber and therefore it is a heavy table, which is an indication of the high quality of timber.
