As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this exceptionally finely painted Meiji Period 1868-1912, lobed and segmented Satsuma ware dish by the highly coveted artist Seikozan, this diminutive dish is formed as ten segments each decorated in remarkable detail around a central floral roundel, the individual segments painstaking artistry fully demonstrate why artists such as Seikozan are so highly regarded today, the tiny characters are depicted in various guises and include musicians at play, bijins in formal gardens, various classes and other seasonal celebrations including religious studies and temples , this fascinating dish bears a crisp gilt signature for Seikozan to the underside.
