Fine pairing of two of the leading figures of the 19th century Romantic Movement, the English poet Lord Byron (1788-1824) and the Scottish novelist Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832). Terracotta circular bas-relief portrait plaques in period turned ebonised wooden frames. Rare in terracotta, well carved and cast. Original (though now a little distressed) leather or sharks skin textured backing. English, circa 1840.
