Victorian Oak Extending Dining Table & 8 Leaves, 18ft, Seats 20

A large Victorian extending dining table in golden quarter-sawn oak and with eight leaves and winding handle. Dating to c.1860 this 56in wide table smoothly extends from 6ft 7in to 18ft 1in using a Joseph Fitter double screw winding mechanism allowing it to seat up to 20 people comfortably if using all the leaves. The rounded rectangular top with a double moulded edge and standing on six carved, turned and fluted tapering legs with brass caps and brown pottery castors. .

Sympathetically cleaned and polished by hand using traditional materials and the winders serviced. A double system of paired runners creates the impressive length whilst the extra legs provide additional support, there is an old repair to one runner. Would also make a versatile boardroom or conference table.
