Description

A fantastic C18th Italian giltwood side/console table. The geometric etche carved top with the original bole(undercoat) showing from where the gilt has worn away.

Below is an opulent flowing frieze adorned with c-scrolls, foliate carving and central cartouche. Raised on uniform silhouetted legs, joined by a substantially carved flowing stretcher featuring further c-scrolls and centred with a shell.

The gilding has naturally worn and aged to a wonderful patina, with the red glow of bole showing through giving it a simple country house appearance.

A rare piece from the peak of Italian design and craftsmanship, in wonderful original and untouched condition. Circa 1760
