Large Pair Of Exceptional Quality Japanese Imari Bijin

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this exceptional quality pair of Meiji period 1868-1912 Imari bijin , these unusually large ceramic okimono are decorated in superb detail throughout by an artist working at the kilns in Arita in the latter part of the Meiji period, undoubtedly taking inspiration from the Edo period artists who manufactured these type of wares for centuries prior to the Meiji restoration, the bijin stand in a serene pose, one wearing a kimono decorated with a phoenix and flora in a kutani palette and holding a straw bonnet , the second clutching her kimono decorated with geometric clouds amidst trailing wisteria , a delightful pair of beauty''s that would light up any room setting or add to your Japanese work of art collection .
 
Condition report :
 
In fine condition throughout with a minimal aged chip to the flowing kimono on the bijin with the hat .
