Pair of Gillows Regency Side Tables

Description

The Gillow chamber tables with rounded well figured rectangular tops have reeded edges and retain a good colour and patina. Inset to the rear on one of the chamber tables is a rectangular flap which raises to reveal an ink well and pen holder. Below a cock-beaded frieze with drawer with turned knob handles, with cock beaded sides raised on ring turned tapering reeded legs terminating in brass capped castors. This type of table was originally supplied by Gillows for T W Egerton Esq. of Tatton Park, Cheshire, circa 1811.

The Gillows archives refers to a “Chamber writing table” ref 344/14; four of these were supplied to T W Egerton Esq of Tatton Park Cheshire in 1811.
