Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Regency style oak & green leather side table, constructed in the Edwardian period, circa 1910, displaying a lovely mellow colour, in excellent condition. The table incorporates a good quality green leather decorated with gold tooling, set within an oak perimeter, featuring reeded moulded edge. Below is a pair of hand dovetailed, pine lined drawers, which display scribe moulded fronts and retain their original Regency style circular brass ring handles & escutcheons. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The table stands on four ring-turned tapering legs, featuring decorative “bamboo” ring turnings, terminating on solid brass castors.
Condition Report:
This writing table is in excellent condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, leather top, drawer fronts and top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawers are in good working order and close flush to the frame. The drawers retain their original Regency style circular handles & escutcheons. The table features a good quality green leather, which shows some minimal signs of use; it is in good overall condition. The table retains the original backboard to the rear. Restoration to the drawer bottoms featuring traditional hessian tape to secure drawer joints. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The solid brass castors are in good working condition. The table has been wax-polished in our workshop; therefore, the colour and patination are of a high standard. Th table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
