Campaign Mahogany Revolving Tripod Wine Occasional Table

A unique mahogany side table, probably a campaign piece dating from the early 19th century, raised upon an umbrella form tripod base and wonderfully turned centre column.

The dished one piece mahogany top has an unusual revolving mechanism of a solid brass bar running through the table column which terminates in a brass knurled nut that adjusts the pressure on the revolving top via a steel spring at the top.

Very refined ebony/ebonised inlays add extra details to the scrolled tripod legs and to the slender turned centre column.

A couple of historical repairs do not detract from the splendour of this table which has a desirable rich patina and very good grain detail.
